Flight of the Conchords isn’t afraid to mess with manliness

It was always a theme of the show — and I’m proud to see them continuing their deconstruction of manly ideals.

It’s handy when the images speak for themselves. If you need more of a dose, you can see a neat Bret McKenzie/Kermit duet from the new Muppets movie, or revisit an old favorite (and a contender for best hip-hop song ever):

Alas, my mini-study break is now over and I’m back to the hard work of deconstructing manliness in my tedious academic way on the page, without pictures or music. Sigh.

Update, 10 minutes later: I couldn’t resist adding yet another manly breakdown-slash-earnest plea for understanding:

    That one guy looks like a combination of Mick Jagger, Jeff Goldbloom and Al Franken.
    I really laughed at this one.
    Technically a man. Ha! I’ll bet a lot of guys feel that way.

      Let me assure you, Hattie, that after a while you find yourself weirdly attracted to him — the unholy Jagger/Goldblum/Franken combination just looks kind of kissable. It’s those lips.

    Just to let you know I have my Kindle Fire now and am watching woman centered films and videos that you have recommended and finding others, too.
    Did you see Fräulein? It’s a German-Swiss TV production about women from the former Yugoslavia living in Switzerland and is available on Netflix download.
