Their names aren’t Rosie

…but perhaps Lorena May, Modine, or Edna Jo. Yeah, they didn’t get a lot of love from the camera (and neither did women of that generation in my family); nor did they look like Rosie the Riveter. But I’m so grateful to JE for sending me the link to this photo as well as all the others posted online at the Denver Post website. These women workers were employed as wipers in the roundhouse having lunch in their rest room, Chicago and Northwest Railway Company, in Clinton, Iowa, April 1943. Maybe they didn’t flex their biceps for the camera, but I love their dignity.
